CiTi Renovations and Additions
Mexico, New York
CiTi, the Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation, is the reincarnation of Oswego County BOCES. In 2010, the educational organization had thoroughly outgrown its 1960s campus.
Wooden, residential style satellite buildings fanned out from the academic center, making some of the campus programs isolated and difficult to supervise. Cramped and technologically outdated classroom and lab space made it difficult to deliver hands-on workforce preparation.
From feasibility study to completion
From the initial feasibility study to pre-referendum services to completion, Mosaic worked with BOCES to consolidate space and improve educational facilities, circulation patterns, security and safety. The project, completed in 2015, follows High Performance Schools Guidelines (NY – CHPS) and LEED design standards and guidelines.
The 168,000-square-foot renovation includes new classrooms, technology labs, operational support spaces and administrative offices, as well as mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire systems. A 60,000-square-foot addition accommodates special education programs, classrooms, lab spaces, multi-purpose instructional rooms and multi-occupation spaces. Another 10,000 square feet accommodates common areas and provides corridors to connect the building wings throughout the campus to improve student circulation and safety.×
