New Transportation Facility

Challenge

As enrollment continued to grow, Voorheesville Central School District developed a comprehensive capital improvement plan to modernize its facilities and create additional instructional space. Mosaic worked with the district to design a new Transportation Facility that would replace aging infrastructure while supporting safer, more efficient fleet operations. Relocating transportation services also created an opportunity to repurpose valuable space within the elementary school for educational improvements that better serve students and the community.

Results

The new Transportation Facility provides dedicated space for 17 full-size buses, 17 half-size buses, vehicle maintenance, all-season bus washing, staff training, and daily transportation operations within a modern, purpose-designed environment. Efficient site circulation, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and thoughtfully planned workspaces support the district’s evolving transportation needs while enhancing safety for students, staff, and visitors. By relocating transportation operations to a standalone facility, the district was able to transform the former elementary bus garage into a modern cafeteria and flexible community space while creating room for additional instructional areas, including music and art classrooms, science labs, and a library makerspace. The project demonstrates how thoughtful planning can solve operational needs while creating lasting educational benefits across an entire campus.
