Kersten G. Lorcher

Kersten Lorcher, AIA, an Associate with Mosaic Associates has been a valued member of the firm since 2002. With decades of experience in educational architecture, he specializes in the design and construction of learning environments and is known for his collaborative approach and strong team-building skills. His clients include the Enlarged City School District of Troy, Voorheesville Central School District, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Before joining Mosaic, Kersten worked for Albany-based architectural firm Mallin Mendel / Envision, where he contributed to a range of institutional projects that helped shape his expertise in learning environment design. At Mosaic, he plays a key role in guiding projects from planning through construction, working closely with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to deliver thoughtful, high-performing facilities.

Kersten is active both professionally and in the community. He serves on the board of the Eastern New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and is a former board member of the Troy Public Library, Capital Region Community Gardens and the Honest Weight Food Co-op. He also has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and frequently supports student engagement initiatives, including portfolio reviews for architecture students at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, presentations for the Troy High School Architecture & Engineering Club and Troy Schools Career Day.

He earned bachelor’s degrees in Architecture and Building Sciences from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, including a scholarship year at ETH Zürich in Switzerland. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, a graduate of the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Institute and holds a NYSERDA Certificate in High Performance School Design.

Kersten is an avid photographer and print maker who resides in Troy, New York, where he enjoys walking to work and spending time with his wife, Sylvie, their two adult children, and their grandchildren as well as skiing, hiking, canoeing and travel.
